Subject of the insurance is the liability of physical and legal persons, possessing and using motor vehicles as well as the drivers authorized by them, for the property or physical damages inflicted on a third party regarding the possession and use of the motor vehicles for which the insured are responsible under the Bulgarian legislation.

1. Covered risks

The motorists’ liability insurance covers their liability for the property or physical damages inflicted by them on a third party including pedestrians, cyclists and other participants in the traffic on the roads regarding the possession and/or the use of motor vehicles on the territory of Bulgaria as well as on the territory of the EU member states.
The insurance limits are the same for all insurance companies and are as follows:

• When regarding events that have taken place on the territory of Bulgaria:

– Regarding every event with one victim – 2 000 000 lv.
– Regarding every event with two or more victims – 10 000 000 lv.
– For property damages regarding every event – 2 000 000 lv.

• When regarding events that have taken place on the territory of the EU member states:

– The minimal liability limits applicable in the respective member state where the event takes place according to the local legislation or the insurance cover according to the legislation of the territory where the owner of the motor vehicle resides, provided that the cover is better.
