Liability of the Hotel Keeper
‘Hotel and restaurant keepers’ private liability’ insurance can be taken out by every person who is engaged in tourist activity in their own or rented by them tourist site falling in one of the following groups:
- Sites for shelter – hotel, motel, villa settlement or tourist settlement
- Places for accommodation – hostel, holiday house, family hotel, private rooms, villa, house, cottage, camping
- Restaurants and places for entertainment – restaurant, bar/discotheque, fast-food restaurant, café and others
The insurance provides coverage against indemnity claims laid by guests or visitors to the tourist site who have suffered an accident or poisoning as a result of having food or drinks offered by the insured, or some of their belongings have been damaged or destroyed while they were on the territory of the tourist site.
Apart from the damages directly caused to be also included are all court expenses made by the insured when the claim against him has been laid through the court as for example expenses for legal protection, court fees and payments to experts.
If the insured has taken measures for limiting the damages, the expenses purposefully made by him in relation to these measures are also to be refunded by the insurer.
As additional coverage within the scope of the insurance policy can be included also:
- Damages to vehicles (excluding theft) on condition that they have taken place on the territory of a parking site servicing only the insured tourist site and have been caused when parking or maneuvering done by an employee of the insured.
- Property loss (including money and valuables) belonging to guests of the tourist site as a result of break-in or theft on condition that at the time of the event the property has been kept under the responsibility of the insured in a cash-box or a safe at the site.
